Entrepreneurship stream 188E

Only those who are nominated by an Australian State or Territory government are eligible for the 188E visa. The applicant must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) using the SkillSelect system in order to be nominated.

For business owners with creative ideas and outside funding, this is a four-year temporary visa. A state or territory government must sponsor you for the Business Innovation & Investment (Residence) Subclass 888 visa after you have been in Australia for two years.

  • To apply for this visa, the applicants may be in Australia or abroad.
  • When a candidate is located in Australia:

188E Stream for Entrepreneurs

Requirements in general

  • Pre-July 2021 requirements:
  • government of a state or territory nominating
  • proficient in English
  • Unless a State or Territory Government nominates you as offering a “exceptional economic benefit” to the state or territory, you must be under 55 years old.
  • The applicant must have a commitment for funding of at least $200,000 from one or more of the sources listed below:
  • Governmental organizations
  • Governments in states and territories
  • Government-funded research institutions
  • Investors who are formally recognized as Venture Capital Limited Partnerships or Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships
  • We can help with the visa procedure if you obtain the cash from one of the aforementioned sources. We don’t help with the financing search.

Eligible commercial activities:

  • The planned business endeavor must be one of the following:
  • .the introduction of an item or service into the Australian market; or
  • .the growth of a company or organization in Australia
  • There will be exclusions for some activities that are deemed insufficiently creative. These are described in a statutory instrument and consist of:
  • .purchase of a franchise or existing business
  • .Property-related activities
  • .Workforce hiring activities

Acceptable funding

  • The applicant must have an agreement for at least $200,000 in finance from one or more of the following sources in order to be eligible for the Entrepreneur Visa.
  • Governmental organizations
  • Governments in states and territories
  • Government-funded research institutions
  • Investors who are formally recognized as Venture Capital Limited Partnerships or Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships
  • .At least 10% of the money must be transferred under the financing agreement within a year of the activity’s start in Australia.
Be supported by a recognized entity if you were requested to apply on or after July 1, 2021.
  • If you were requested to submit an application for this visa on or after July 1, 2021, your nominating State or Territory government agency must give its approval for you to pursue your business ideas.
