  • .remain in Australia forever
  • .study and work in Australia
  • .enroll in Medicare, Australia’s program for covering medical costs and care.
  • .encourage qualified family members to immigrate permanently
  • .During five years, travel to and from Australia
  • .submit an application for citizenship in Australia (after fulfilling the residency criteria)
Primary criterion

The Parent Visa program is run by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The “settled” requirement for this visa requires sponsors to show that they have been residing legally in Australia for two or more years. The duration of this residence period may include time spent on transitory visas.

The applicant must pass what is known as the balance of family test in order to be eligible for this visa. According to this requirement, the applicant must have more of their children residing in Australia than any other nation, or at least half of their children must be Australian citizens or permanent residents. The balance of the family includes all offspring, including stepchildren and adoptive children of both parents.

various visas

A permanent visa known as a “Contributory” visa is subclass 143. This is due to the $4,765 first-time applicant application price and the $1,605 spouse application charge. The second installment for every application, however, is $43,600. The processing time for this visa is around 12 years, and if approved, it becomes permanent. DHA has authorized Contributory Parent visa applications with a backlog date of July 2016 for final processing.

Subclass 173:

The first Australian government charge for this temporary visa is $3,055, and the spouse fee is $1,530. The second installment of $29,130 must be paid before the visa may be issued. It takes around 12 years to process this visa.

Fees

The following fees apply to Permanent Parent Visas; please note that all payments are in Australian dollars (AUD) and that VisaEnvoy fees must be paid in full before your visa application can be submitted.

There is a 1.4% credit card fee.

As mentioned above, you can apply for the temporary parent visa (subclass 173), which is valid for two years, and then apply for the permanent visa if you want to stagger the procedure. The benefit is a reduced second VAC charge of $29,130. Two years later, at the permanent stage, a second payment of $19,420 is due. The bearer of the subclass 173 visa may reside in Australia once the first stage (sc143) has been accepted.

There is a 1.4% credit card fee.

AoS, or assurance of support

There is also an AoS that must be paid at the time of choice. In the present, this costs $14,000 for two applicants. Ten years after your arrival in Australia on a contributory parent visa, you will receive your bond back, less any outstanding debts to the Australian government.
